On Monday, the American Hockey League announced that Grand Rapids Griffins captain Dominik Shine has been named as the Howies Hockey Tape/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending February 15, 2026.
Fresh off his first AHL All-Star Classic, Shine scored five goals over the course of two games against the Texas Stars. Coincidentally, five goals is the amount the Griffins scored against the Stars on Sunday, February 15, when Shine earned his second hat trick of the season, and his career. Two days earlier, he scored two goals in Grand Rapids 4-2 win over Texas.
Shine now has a career-high 20 goals this season. His 95 career goals with the Griffins place him third in franchise history in goal scoring.
To add to the beauty of the weekend, Shine’s five goals added $250 to the total donated to the Jamie Daniels Foundation by Meijer. The total for the 2025-26 season now sits at a cool $1,000.
