Beauty Play of the Week (11.5 - 11.11.2025) : Austin Watson’s Power Play Goal

The Chicago Wolves ended the Grand Rapids Griffins 8-0 win-streak on Sunday, November 9th, 2025. It was a valiant effort by the Griffins, who were able to push the game to a shootout. Thus, retaining their hot point Streak.
At no point in the game did it look or feel like Grand Rapids was giving up. That, in itself, is beautiful.
Despite the loss, there were still multiple beautiful things that graced our eyeballs, but one shone brighter than the rest.
The Grand Rapids Griffins Beauty Play of the Week for the week of November 5th - 11th, 2025, goes to Austin Watson's power play goal on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
I love the passing and the slappers the Griffins' power play unit unleashed before Watson finally found the back of the net. Last season, the power play usually had one or two guys who were driving the play. As you can see, this season, everyone is working together to convert the man-advantage into a goal. It’s simply beautiful to see a team work as one cohesive unit to reach their goal.
On this play, we also see the importance of Watson’s net front presence. For the entirety of this play, and much of the power play, he stays in the presence of the net. Whether it's in the slot, right on the crease, or behind the net, Watson is there lurking and waiting for his chance to scoop up a rebound or deflect a shot into the net. His patience and ability to fly under the radar allows plays to convert into a goal.
