Beauty Play of the Week: Amadeus Lombardi’s Second Game Winning Overtime Goal in 24 Hours

The Graced By Rain “Beauty Play of the Week” for February 18 - 24, 2026 has been awarded to Amadeus Lombardi's overtime goal on Saturday, February 21, 2026 against the Milwaukee Admirals.

The beauty of this play starts with Michael Brandsegg-Nygard employing a hit that frees the puck, allowing Lombardi to take possession. Brandsegg-Nygard has been a hitting machine this season, and the positive effect is shown with this play ending in the back of the net. As you can see, controlled, non-malicious hits are important to having a successful game.

Now, I think we can all agree that the best part of this play is watching Lombardi score after being blatantly slashed two times by Zach L’Heureux. Instead of trying to fight him or get upset with the refs, Lombardi retaliated in the best way possible: by turning on the burners to get within scoring range and finish the game.  

To sprinkle a little more beauty dust on the play, Lombardi took a puck to the face in the game the night before and stayed in the game, scoring the game-winner in overtime. He then did a lengthy post-game press conference with the media before hopping onto the overnight bus to Milwaukee.

Back-to-back games with game-winning overtime goals after taking a puck to the face and having little rest is quite a beautiful feat for an athlete.
