Last week, the Grand Rapids Griffins released their 2025-26 season schedule. The 72-game season kicks off in Texas against the Texas Stars on Friday, October 10th at 8pm edt. A week later, on October 17th, the Griffins hold their home opener at Van Andel Arena against the Manitoba Moose at 7pm.

Three-in-threes and four-in-fives used to be a consistent feature on the schedule. However, this season, Grand Rapids experiences only two three-in-threes and zero four-in-fives. The evenly spread out schedule is more palatable for players and fans.

This is the Griffins 30th season as a franchise and 25th in the AHL.

Foes since the beginning, the Wolves are also entering their 25th season in the AHL. So, this season will be the battle of the 25. Which team will come out on top? Watch the games below to find out.

Iowa Wild - 8 games

The Iowa Wild enter the 2025-26 season with a brand new head coach, Greg Cronin. The veteran coach spent the last two season as head coach of the Anaheim Ducks (NHL).

A familiar face, former Griffins defenseman Wyatt Newpower, joined the Wild organization at the beginning of July. It’s projected he will likely start the season in Iowa.

Manitoba Moose - 8 games

The Manitoba Moose finished the 2024-25 season with a less than stellar 25-41-3-3 record placing them last in the Central Division, last in the Western Conference, and second to last in the league. A good chunk of their roster is returning. Look for them to be on the hunt for redemption.

Milwaukee Admirals - 12 games

Are the Milwaukee Admirals and Grand Rapids Griffins foes or besties? We never really know until the season kicks into high gear. They’ve played each other so much over the years, I’m surprised they don’t leave toothbrushes at each other’s arenas.

Rockford IceHogs - 10 games

It’s usually a barn burner when Grand Rapids and the Rockford IceHogs meet. Not literally, though. The Wolves have a monopoly on pyrotechnics in the state of Illinois.

Rockford is hosting the 2026 AHL All-Star Classic on February 10th and 11th. With that in mind, they will likely bring their best game to the table this season in hopes of having as many representatives as possible at the event.

Texas Stars - 8 games

The Texas Stars were a thorn in the side of Grand Rapids last season. They were faster, stronger, and more skilled than the Griffins. Luckily, the Stars lost prolific scorer Matej Blumel and head coach Neil Graham this offseason. Replacing Graham is Toby Petersen, who will enter his ninth season as an AHL coach, but his first as a head coach. He is incredibly talented at developing prospects and AHL veterans. Be prepared for Texas to continue to be a hard team to beat this season.

Toronto Marlies - 4 games

After a one-year hiatus, the Griffins and Toronto Marlies meet again for four games during the 2025-26 season. Toronto has been quite busy this summer as they have given two contract extension and signed seven new players since May. The presence of two of their new signings, Goaltender Ken Appleby and forward Marc Johnstone, on the roster will aide in the development of the Maple Leafs prospects.
