The Graced By Rain Beauty Player of the Month for December 2025 has been awarded to Grand Rapids Griffins goaltender Sebastian Cossa.

In the month of December, Cossa posted a record of 7-0-1-0 with a fantastic .929 sav%, a 1.76 goals against average, and two shutouts. Oh, and the netminded ended up on the scoresheet with an assist.

Here are a few other fun stats to break out at your next party.

From November 25 to December 27, Cossa had a career-high 10-game win streak, boasting a 1.51 GAA and a .939 save percentage. He ended December on an 11-game point streak, with a record of 10-0-1.

The most incredible stat of all might be the fact that he held opponents to two goals or less in six of his eight December appearances.

But, it’s not just quantifiable numbers and stats that earned Cossa the honor of “Beauty Player of the month”. It’s the added bonus of Cossa’s mental toughness. On December 3, Cossa lost his skate blade during an oncoming rush. Yet, somehow was able to make multiple saves before the play was finally stopped.

In post game, Cossa explained to the media that he initially had a moment of panic when his blade fell off. From our vantage point on press row, he looked cool as a cucumber. So, while he was panicking on the inside, his demeanor reflected poise and calm. This is the case every game. Even when opponents take extra whacks after the whistle or constantly pepper the net with shots, Cossa stays locked in and focused on preventing pucks from crossing into the net.

The AHL also recognized Cossa’s talents, giving him back-to-back AHL Goaltender of the Month awards in November and December, becoming the first netminder since 2021 to win the award in consecutive months. Cossa also became the first goaltender in Grand Rapids’ franchise history to win the award twice in one season.
